Dallas Foreclosures Drop 40% in December
The foreclosure crisis, which has cost thousands of North Texans their homes, has begun to wind down. Home foreclosure filings for 2012 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area were at their lowest level since before the recession began. And December residential foreclosure postings were down more than 40 percent from the same month in 2011. Analysts credit the improvements to the rebounding economy and housing market. D-FW’s home foreclosure filings in 2012 dropped for the second year in a row, to 48,653, according to data from Addison-based Foreclosure Listing Service. That’s the lowest number since 2007.
